 LEARN. LAUGH. LIVE.

       CAIR-CT 5th Anniversary Banquet

              Partner in Peace & Justice

LEARN.

Come join us for our Fifth Anniversary Banquet!  We are raising funds to enable us to continue protecting the civil rights of Muslims, building stronger relationships with local governments, enhancing understanding of Islam through interfaith forums, and maintaining a steady presence in the media to promote a positive image of Islam.  More than ever, it is critical to ensure the voice of Muslims is represented and that our community is empowered.  To reflect the growing need for Muslim political participation our theme for this year is Partner in Peace and Justice.

Imam Mahdi Bray, a long time civil and human rights activist serving as the President of the Muslim American Society, and Yasir Qadhi, author and Dean of Academic Affairs at Al-Maghrib Institute, have graciously agreed to come to our dinner to offer insights into the state of American Muslims and the steps necessary to promote peace and justice.

The banquet will also feature Executive Director of CAIR-CT Mongi Dhaouadi, Executive Director of CAIR-Oklahoma Razi Hashmi, and CAIR National Representative Corey Saylor. Our fundraising coordinator will be the esteemed Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, the Director of Outreach of Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center and founding member of the Muslim Advocacy Commission in Washington D.C. The Master of Ceremony is Dr. Colleen Keyes, Dean of Academic Affairs at Tunxis Community College. Several political leaders such as representatives from Congressman Joe Courtney’s office will be in attendance. Business, religious, and political activist leaders will also be present.

Open your mind to possibilities and let your voice be heard.

LAUGH.

Why so serious?  Laugh, giggle, and snort with Azhar Usman, internationally celebrated Muslim comedian and co-founder of the Allah Made Me Funny tour.   To combat prejudices and help allay public fears about American Muslims, Usman has turned to satire and stand-up comedy to describe what it’s like being Muslim in a predominately non-Muslim society.  Unapologetically Muslim, he is part of the changing face of the American Muslim identity.

LIVE.

Enjoy delicious gourmet dinners of halal steak, chicken, salmon, or a vegetarian dish while making new friends.  Meet and socialize with community and interfaith leaders, activists and students, supportive politicians and business owners.  Check out vendors showing off merchandise and discover new Muslim businesses.   Immerse yourself and enjoy a night out with local Muslims.
