EMPOWERING YOUNG AMERICAN
CAIR
interns receive practical training in public and media relations,
government relations, legal and civil rights, community outreach,
research and leadership training. They work with skilled and
dedicated mentors to gain first-hand experience in these fields.
CAIR-CT is now accepting applications for following internship
opportunities:
1. Speaker Training Workshop Coordinator: Use our existing
templates to set up a CAIR speaker training program in Hartford, New
London, and other locations. Training programs are geared towards
educating students and activists about interacting with media,
making presentations about Islam or Muslims, and more. Timeline: 2
months.
2. Media Research: Review articles, blogs and news on Connecticut
Muslims. Enter strategic comments on blogs and coordinate letter
writing to increase CAIR presence in these mediums. Interns would
also maintain their own blog CAIR Connecticut Media blog. Time line:
variable.
3. Media Profile: create profiles of local journalists,
columnists, and leaders for a database. The database is to help
communicate with community and educate community about CAIR programs
and events. Time line: variable.
4. Voter Registration Campaign: recent Pew data revealed low
rates of voting and registration amongst Muslims. This will set up
voter education programs, and work with community groups to maximize
voter turnout. Time line: variable.
5. Marketing Project Create graphics, posters and other CAIR can
use to communicate projects/campaigns and events to its constituents
and to the community. This would also involve expanding member
database and providing assistance in creating a weekly e-newsletter.
